Valve works with GPD to bring one steamOS optimized for the latest portable hybrid system of the latter, GPD recently launched the new system with details of the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor, one of two handhelds on the market that uses the latest AMD CPU, the other is instead of which AOKZOE, their newly created portable A1 system offers a form factor that combines Steam Deck and an older Intel Onexplayer Mini variant.

Recent reviews and benchmarks for these processors show that the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U is a better option for gaming, as the AMD APU offers 12 CUs based on the RDNA 2 architecture, which the GPD Win Max 2 shares with the Steam Deck, however, Valve’s system uses only eight CUs and the previous Zen 2 core architecture, therefore, where the GPD system is not optimized, it offers a better performance boost and can benefit both sides.

On the campaign page of indiegogo For GPD’s new Win Max 2 system, the company has updated information to supporters that Valve has contacted to help optimize Steam’s operating system for the new console. This company news reveals that Valve will optimize SteamOS for AMD’s latest Zen3+ architecture and ramp up more powerful RDNA 2-based GPUs.

The optimization of SteamOS for GPD and the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U hybrid console also opens the door to other handheld gaming consoles such as One Notebook, AYANEO and AOKZOE. For now, GPD recommends users either use the pre-installed Windows 11 Home system or replace the operating system and downgrade to Windows 10 LTSC. Windows 10 LTSC removes some features not required or necessary for portable consoles and offers a slight increase in efficiency.
