There is now just over a month to go before the launch of the new iPhone 14. Four will be presented, including the two iPhone 14 Pro. And today we’re talking about a feature expected on the latter two: the AoD, acronym for Always on display.
Basically, if the user wishes, he can set the smartphone screen so that it never goes away. In this mode, the display can be used to constantly show the time and some messages. It is possible to do this – without draining the battery quickly – because the new iPhone 14 Pro will have a new type of display that has a refresh rate very low, with values around 1Hz.
This latest generation display will be exclusive to the two high-end iPhones, which is why we will introduce theAoD even on the two ‘essential’ iPhones. Plus, it’s not even the only feature that sets the Pros apart from the base models. The notch will also only be missing on the iPhone Pro models, while it will be reintroduced on the entry-level iPhone 14.
It looks like the Xcode 14 beta 4 is leaking the Always on Display in the SwiftUI preview.

A preview of the rumored iPhone 14 Pro ‘Always on Display’ feature may have been leaked by Xcode 14 beta 4 Simulator. Attached are the first two frames of a video of the sim’s awakening. The first image (Always on Display mode) removes texture from the whale image in the widget

The latest information about the always-on comes to us from the fourth beta of Xcode 14 and were discovered by the developer rhogelleim, who shared the screenshots you find in this news. “This is a color image widget,” the developer explains. Now there are no more doubts: as expected by numerous rumors, the new iPhone 14 Pro will be the first Apple smartphones to support Always on Display. All that’s left is to wait until September (or the next leaks) to find out more.
