The European electric car market has a new queen: it’s the Tesla Model Y, which took the place of the Model 3 not long ago, also Tesla. The latest bulletin from Jato Dynamics.

However, the overall picture is anything but happy: the registrations SUVs and electrified cars – which led the recovery in early 2022 – have fallen. SUVs are down 7% year over year and electric 8%. Among BEV And PHEV there are 215,000 registrations across Europe, compared to 233,000 units last year. To see the glass half full – and it is important to do so – it should be noted that the electrified ones continue to eat market share from the other market segments, with market share growing by as much as 20%.

Expanding the photo even further, we find that 1,054,807 cars were registered in Europe in June 2022, another sharp drop from June 2022, when there were 1,268 million units. That is a sharp drop of 17%. It was the worst June since 1993.

Then we come to the electric ranking: in first place is the Tesla Model Y, protagonist of the production of the new Gigafactory in Berlin. Tesla has registered 16,687 units. Follows FCA with its Fiat 500 electric (7,269) and thus the Tesla Model 3 (6,176).
