HE James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has released amazing new images Jupiter. The observations provide more details about the powerful dynamics at work on Earth’s largest planet. solar systemIt shows mysterious mists, auroras, rings, and lesser-known moons as it orbits.

The recordings are made from a composite of data captured by an in-device camera, the NIRCam. In more reddish hues, it is possible to visualize auroras extending to high altitudes above the north and south poles; yellow and green, particles of haze; and light reflecting from clouds in the atmosphere, in blue.

The Great Red Spot, Jupiter’s famous hurricane, appears white because it reflects too much sunlight, like most of the equatorial region. Darker stripes to the north and south indicate less cloud cover in these areas in the gas giant’s atmosphere.

In addition to the detailed view of Jupiter, the application of different filters gave an image of the planet’s surroundings. In this part of space, it is possible to see rings in their orbits and two lesser-known natural satellites: Amalthea and Adrastea. More than 75 moons orbit Jupiter, although the most famous are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.

It is worth noting that the information provided by the James Webb Space Telescope represents raw data. Many of these files are analyzed and rendered into images by government agencies such as NASA, but freelance scientists can also compose their own.

In this case, the depicted images of Jupiter were made by Judy Schmidt, an amateur astronomy enthusiast known to work with telescope data as a hobby.
