whatsapp is working on a new novelty, for story lovers, namely the so-called ephemeral content that is only visible for 24 hours. This time, Meta wants to increase the visibility of the Stories and therefore wants to make them immediately visible from chat screen.
Unlike Instagram Stories, WhatsApp Stories – which are called “Status” – are not actually used. A solution could then be to give them a slightly more central space. In the latest version of the WhatsApp beta, 22.18.0.70some testers got a chance to preview the change.
According to WABetainfo, users will soon be able to watch Stories of their contacts directly from the main screen, that with the chat list. Therefore, they no longer have to open the profile of their contacts or go to the appropriate section dedicated to ephemeral content. In short, it is a way to save some steps, which would otherwise make consulting the stories rather cumbersome.
In any case, this would be an optional and reversible change. Users who want to keep their WhatsApp home screen as clean as possible can do it in an easy way. They just need to go into the settings and disable the display of Stories from the chat list. Nothing simpler.
For now, this novelty is exclusively present in the beta of WhatsApp and we do not yet know when (and if) this new feature will make its debut on the stable version of the application.
