New information shows that brazilian vaccine against coronavirus should be used in human test from 2023. So far, Brazilian scientists are working on the vaccine developed by professionals from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz).
The immunizer, named SpiN-TEC, has shown good results in animal experiments. and therefore should begin testing in humans soon. Now, the study in humans depends solely on responses to the latest requirements from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
“There are already studies showing that the response of existing vaccines against the micron variant is ineffective, so the importance of developing new solutions that attack this and other variants. In addition, SpiN-TEC has low cost and high stability,” said the researcher. Ricardo Gazzinelli, study coordinator, scientist and researcher of CT Vaccines of the UFMG study.
CT Vacinas at UFMG has been developing the SpiN-TEC vaccine since March 2020, in partnership with Fiocruz Minas and with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. In addition, researchers began requesting human tests on Anvisa since July 2021.
Brazilian vaccine
this Brazil AgencyAnvisa states that it is holding technical meetings to guide researchers in full compliance with missing requirements for conducting clinical research – meaning the agency is waiting for the necessary information to allow vaccine study in humans.
The UFMG Human Experiments Ethics Committee and the CEP/Conep system have already approved testing with the vaccine, as the information obtained indicates protection against aggravation in infected individuals. The researchers even published an article in the scientific journal Nature Communications presenting data on the robustness of the Spin-TEC vaccine.
