Once again we find a rich package of functions dedicated to health, including fall detection and heart rate detection. But there are also some important new features: a sensor for measure the temperature body and a function for women that allows you to track the menstrual cycle and accurately detect the ovulation phase and thus the so-called fertile window. Not only that, the device can detect any abnormalities that could indicate a health problem. The information collected in this way – at least in the US – can easily be shared with your doctor.
That’s not the only major news: the Apple Watch Series 8 also has a new feature that can identify when the user is involved in a car accident. It is possible thanks to a new accelerometer and two other new special sensors. In the event of an accident, the device automatically contacts the police and rescue services. Apple’s algorithm is built on data obtained from more than 1 million hours of real-world driving, road tests, and real-life accident information. With the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple has also introduced international roaming support for models with LTE connectivity for the first time.
The new Apple Watch Series 8 will be available in four different colors: midnight starlight, silver and product red. In the US it starts at $399 for the version with GPS and $499 for the version with GPS + LTE.
