This original version Matter will be compatible with a wide range of devices that will receive this feature.including lighting, HVAC controls, security sensors, door locks, media devices… among others.

Please note that not only can they include this feature in their new products, but it also means that they can update their existing products to be compatible with Matter.

Actually, iOS 16.1 is already laying the groundwork for Matter, so it could be announced when the update is released. This will allow HomeKit devices to work with others from Google or Amazon, for example.

It will probably be a slow process, but the official release of the Matter 1.0 smart home standard is a big step in the right direction.
