HE to sleep It is one of the ways to restore the body’s energies and restart several important processes for proper functioning. However, according to a study, SAMSUNGThe pandemic has significantly affected durationa quality and standards sleep for people around the world.
The study was carried out based on data received from users. Samsung Health, the company’s health-tracking app that pulls data from the brand’s phones and watches. In total, 16 countries analyzed sleep metrics for the results obtained.
Sleep duration and quality
During the pandemic, people slept longer. Average sleep time in Brazil increased to 6h47min and 6h56min. The global average also rose from 6h56m to 7h02m. However, an increase in quantity does not necessarily mean an improvement in quality.
Seven of the 16 countries analyzed showed reduced sleep efficiency. This metric is calculated based on various factors and is represented by a score ranging from 0 to 100. On average, Brazilians improve their sleep quality – this goes from 87.14 to 87.70 in score. However, the global average shows a decline in this index from 87.86 to 87.79.
Effect of gender and age
Another interesting result of the study is understanding how the pandemic has affected the sleep of women, men and different age groups. On average, both male and female users began sleeping more after the pandemic, but both experienced a decline in sleep quality.
All age groups also lived longer in bed, but users aged 19 and over and over 40 experienced a reduction in sleep efficiency. The exception belongs to the group of 20 to 39 years old, which, on average, significantly improves the quality of rest hours.
how can i sleep better
The study conducted by Samsung makes it clear that more sleep does not necessarily mean better quality sleep. For this we welcome some tips to increase the efficiency of rest hours:
- Avoid using electronic devices until 1 hour before bedtime;
- Prepare a completely dark environment for hours of sleep;
- Do not eat heavy meals at night;
- Exercise throughout the day.
These are basic tips, but they can certainly bring incredible benefits to sleep. A final tip would be to use an app to track the hours spent in bed and understand how your sleep quality is.
