União Química, a Brazilian pharmaceutical company, has made package inserts available for 250 drugs and can now be consulted digitally via Alexa using just a voice command.

All available brochures follow Anvisa’s (National Health Surveillance) guidelines and provide information on dosage, active ingredients of medicines and directions for use.

According to Guilhermo Cintra Fragelli, IT director at União Química, “all data can be accessed in a more practical, fast and natural way simply by talking to the equipment.”

Using technology to access drug-related information can provide users with a variety of benefits, including as an important tool for concurrency for consultation and manipulation of drugs and accessibility for people with visual impairments.

“We know the benefits that innovation can bring us, and we understand that the use of new technologies has a positive impact on our consumers. This initiative expands access to information about our products to the whole of society,” explains Fernando de Castro Marques, president of União Química, in a press release.

Currently, information about 250 drugs has been obtained from the pharmaceutical company. However, the project ensures that all non-hospital use drugs have the option of voice consultation.
