The new camera control button on the iPhone 16, which is considered one of the smartphone’s key features, is causing concern among users. According to GizmoChina, it can cost up to $750 to repair, which is comparable to the price of a phone.

The button consists of nine components, so the probability of its failure is high, the publication writes, citing expert reports. If it breaks, repairing the phone in China will cost 4,399 yuan ($625, almost 57,000 rubles) for the iPhone 16 and 5,299 yuan ($750, almost 70,000 rubles) for the iPhone 16 Pro.
According to Apple’s website, the cost of repair in the US will be $549 (over 51 thousand rubles) or $649 (over 60 thousand rubles).
In the US, prices for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro start at $799 and $999 respectively (about 74 and 93 thousand rubles), so repairing a phone with a broken camera control button seems impractical, GizmoChina notes. According to the publication, owners of the new iPhone also complain about the awkward location of the button, which makes the phone uncomfortable to hold in the hand.
On September 24, the Restore chain of household appliances and electronics became the first among offline stores in Russia to start selling new Apple products. The cheapest iPhone 16 costs 115 thousand rubles.
