The Council of the European Union gave final approval to the directive which, from 2024, requires the approval of a single connector for all ‘small’ electronics products, starting with smartphones. In fact, the new directive penalizes the death of Lightning from Apple.

Following the adoption of the European Parliament’s position by the Council today, the legislative act will be adopted. After signature by the President of the European Parliament and the President of the Council, the law will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and enter into force 20 days after publication. The new rules will apply 24 months after entry into force
