A meeting between the two brightest planets in the sky is scheduled for this weekend: Venus and Jupiter. Neptune must also join them, but it will not be visible to the naked eye.

The apparent conjunction between the planets will occur between Saturday (30) and Sunday (1°). The summit will be at 16:00 on Saturday.

The approach will be visible across the country. However, the position of the stars will vary depending on the region of the country. For example, at 4:30 a.m. in Rio de Janeiro, they will be 18 degrees apart in the sky at sunrise.

It will be easy to recognize them at night because they are the brightest stars above us. However, it will not be possible to observe the event with the naked eye during daylight hours (it is not recommended to look at the sky without wearing protective glasses such as glasses).

However, with a telescope, eyesight increases. It will even be possible to find Neptune joining the neighbors at night. The three planets will be together, that is, aligned in a celestial coordinate.

The National Observatory will broadcast the event live on its YouTube channel. The implementation is carried out in partnership with professional and amateur astronomers. The live will be from 4am on both Saturday and Sunday.

The last conjunction between the two planets was in February of last year, but at that time it was not possible to see the meeting as the planets were too close to the sun. The next conjunction is expected in March 2023
