According to a study, user reports about twitch they are said to have increased more than fivefold in the past 12 months. A consequence of the new site rules, which have been rewritten to be clearer and less ambiguous.

Twitch has rewritten — and continues to rewrite — its policy with the aim of making it easier to understand and less misunderstood. The new Community Guidance now they include some new regulations, including a few new paragraphs called Politeness & Respect and Sensitive Content. A new section – Safety for young people – only covers guidelines intended to protect underage users.

Some illicit behaviors, once inserted into broader and more smoky categories, now have specific paragraphs. For example, if we scroll through the guidelines, we find the new headings “Sexual Harassment” and “Games Not Allowed”.

Twitch explains that it has changed practically nothing, but has limited itself to making clearer policies that have been in place for a longer period of time. The new language and policy organization aims to make accidental violations less frequent, leaving fewer excuses for offending users.

The results are already starting to show: since the guidelines were rewritten for greater clarity, reports (leading to real measurements) of users increased by 511%, while the disciplinary action grew by 920% year on year.
