Road signs seem to change over time. Our parents see every day in roads the same signs they saw as children… or some of them. Because even though we don’t realize it, the signs change.
And when we say they’re changing, we mean they’re renewing, they’re redesigning, launching new ones, redesigning others… The reality of the road with its new vehicles and new needs means that DGT is going to have to upgrade the traffic lights.
Highways with more traffic and better signs are a safer road for everyone. Think that ten years ago there were no electric scooters, and an electric car was almost a dream of a few. These cars have become a reality and we have to adapt to them.
For this reason, the Spanish government website has shared a PDF of the new report. traffic signals where you can see which ones will populate the roads in the coming years. Of course, 99% of them already exist today. That is why we are going to show you the most curious of them.
New road signs and changes to existing ones
Below we have left you some of these redesigned signs. According to the government’s website, all signs have been redrawn to make them easier to distinguish and interpret. We don’t appreciate much of the difference, but the drawing seems to be sharper than before.
Let’s start with the 9 signs that we left, you probably know how to recognize them, because this is their true power. But, if it wasn’t, we’re going to reconsider meaning currently. Let’s go there.
- Scooter sign: Prohibition of access to personal vehicles.
- Sign of a man with a car: Prohibition of access to handcarts
- Burning car sign: Prohibition of access to all types of vehicles carrying explosive or flammable goods and requiring signs in accordance with their special regulations.
- Rectangular scooter sign: Indicates under the appropriate vertical sign that it refers exclusively to personal vehicles.
- Scooter and bike sign: Indicates under the appropriate vertical sign that this applies exclusively to bicycles and personal vehicles.
- Car sign with stripes: Indicates below the corresponding vertical signal that this only applies in foggy conditions.
And we do not explain the last signs of supplies, since the signs themselves explain their meaning below, since they are complex enough to require an explanatory legend. The change is not a big deal, but these are road signs and you should be aware of them.
