We’ve been asking WhatsApp for years to do something about this classic trick of creating a one-member group (in this case, us) and using that as a reminder list. We’ve all done it at some point, especially when we didn’t know where to point something.
We’ve been bringing news about this for a while now, as whatsapp has been wanting to get an update on the app for a while now so that, as in android how in iPhone, users could write to themselves in a more natural way. Even on WhatsApp Web.
And it was at the end of October when news began to appear about some improvements to send messages to yourself in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iPhone. Finally, today WhatsApp is rolling out this feature to some beta testers:
As you can see in this screenshot, whatsapp allows you to easily open a chat with your phone number. To check if it’s available to you, you just need to open your contact list to see if the feature is available.
The self chat we all asked for on whatsapp
If this feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you can now open a chat with your phone number right in your contact list.
And the application will not come without news about it. As we discussed in October, your own chat and the messages you send to yourself will finally show up on all of your linked devices for quite some time.
Still there may be a global announcement when the rollout gets wider for more Android and iOS beta testers, where you can find some additional details that haven’t been revealed yet.
Keep in mind that the ability to open a chat with your phone number in your contact list has been made available to some beta testers and will become available to more users in the coming days. So open your whatsapp to see how lucky you are.
