Google test the introduction of new advertising spaces within the play store, the official marketplace of the Android ecosystem. Like what Apple has already done, Google is considering introducing the commercial break even within the search bar.

In short, developers can sponsor their applications, which may one day also appear below the search bar every time the user enters a new search query. By paying, developers can increase the visibility of their content and promote their apps.

For the time being it is only an experiment and it is not certain that Google will decide to definitively introduce this new form of advertising. The novelty was discovered by the specialized site 9to5Google. It seems that the new ad space is exclusively for games.

Sponsored apps only appear after the user enters at least one letter in the search bar.

For some time now, Apple has increasingly focused on advertising in the App Store as a form of monetization. Apple recently increased the space for sponsored apps, including this one in the “Recommended apps for you” section. The debut of the new ads was rocky: At first, the App Store was flooded with ads for a number of controversial apps, including lotteries and other forms of gambling and even adult chat.
