THE Boosters last generation of Tesla they are – on paper – much more powerful than previously thought. We know this thanks to the fact that the manufacturer has made several documents and technical sheets available to the public on its network of charging stations.

Surprising (positively) everyone, Tesla has in fact decided to open up its charging protocol, with the dual aim of finding new potential partners and the proliferation of infrastructures intended for charging electric cars. Elon Musk has also issued a call to engineers and designers. The target? Redesign the standard charging connector used in the US market and eliminate the CCS connector.

As expected, Tesla has made a large number of hitherto confidential documents available to the public in order to do this. And it is precisely in the documentation about Superchargers that we read an interesting fact to say the least: the most recent Superchargers can, in theory, up to 900 kW power.

Tesla currently uses two charging interfaces, set to operate at 500 and 1,000 V respectively. The latter is for charging Tesla Semi trucks. More specifically, Tesla claims to have managed to charge a vehicle above the 900 amps “continuously” and without using a liquid-cooled input. Hence a power of 900 kW.

Meanwhile, Tesla is working on the fourth generation of its Superchargers. They have a power between 300 and 350 kW.
