The new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are out for about a month, but that doesn’t matter because we’re already starting to talk about the next phones from Google. The rumors come from the German-language portal WinFuture, which has already signed several other scoops in the past.

According to the German magazine, Google is working on two new phones that carry the code name internally huskies And Shiba. The two nicknames have already appeared several times in the source code of some developer versions of Android. These are clearly the following Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

Both phones are equipped with a brand new chip called Zuma, which is most likely the successor to the Tensor G2 released this year. Not only that: the two phones also run Android 14, itself codenamed Upside Down Cake (almost all versions of Android have a middle name dedicated to dessert).

We also already know some specifications of the two Pixel 8. Shiba, the entry-level model, has a display with a resolution of 2268 x 1080p and is equipped with 12 GB RAM (against the Pixel 7’s 8GB). Husky can instead count on a display with a resolution of 2822 x 1344p and in turn has 12 GB of RAM.

Concerning the SoC Zumawe know it is equipped with the Samsung G5300 5G modem, the same one we find on the Tensor G2.

Obviously, the tech data sheet of these two phones doesn’t necessarily match that of the two Pixel 8s, as far as we know they could just be two devkits.
