Gigabyte showed off a dedicated gaming monitor: the S55U is a TV in almost everything, except you can’t watch TV on it by default. The monitor runs Android, providing direct access to apps and streaming services.

The centerpiece, of course, is the 54.6-inch VA panel with quantum dots. It has 3840 x 2160 pixels and an average brightness of 500 nits with peaks up to 1500 nits. The contrast ratio is 5,000:1 and the screen can display 96 percent of the dci-p3 color space. With 132 local dimming zones, Dolby Vision and HDR10(+) are supported.

The S55U is a gaming monitor and therefore refreshes at 120 Hz. According to Gigabyte, the response time averages 5ms (gray to gray), with a minimum of 2ms. AMD FreeSync Premium, with everything at hand (auto low latency mode) and eARC over HDMI 2.1.

The rear has two HDMI 2.1, two HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB-A, Ethernet, an audio port and an optical audio connector. The S55U comes with a detachable base and has a 400 x 300mm vesa mount. The panel measures 123.2 x 71.7 x 9.8 centimeters; With the foot, the depth increases to 30.9 cm.

Other features include two customizable buttons, two speakers of 10W each, and an included remote with a Chromecast built-in.

It is not yet clear when the Gigabyte S55U will be released and how much it will cost.
