Michelle Jonnston is the head of Intel’s client computing division. She has been with the company for 27 years and held a variety of roles, including being responsible for boxed processors and motherboards. Before that, she was active in the company’s sales division and was responsible for Microsoft.

Jonnston is fascinated to see what’s new in partners. We strive to innovate together where it is important to combine hardware and software to develop products and services. It’s important to get our customers excited about our products. I spend a lot of time listening in my role and we use this knowledge to develop our roadmap.

In recent years laptops have been developed to be light enough to be carried around easily, but Intel still needs to make strides in the battery space. It doesn’t matter if you’re using Apple or HP that needs improvement. Besides the weight, one of the things that has changed is the built-in camera: in recent years we have started to see webcams as much more important for video communication needs.

Michelle was also asked about Apple’s M1 processor. Competition is good, it makes us hungrier and we learn from it and I’m sure we can make a great product. The biggest challenge is that we need to create the ecosystem now to get there.
