It’s very bad news for subscribers to Netflix and other streaming apps, especially those who don’t have a stable internet connection or live in the slums of a big city. Netflix has stopped streaming video on TVs with HDMI adapters from iPhone and iPad.

In 2019, news broke that Netflix was no longer sending content over AirPlay, and now the platform has done the same with content streamed to television via the HDMI port. Reason? This digital rights (DRM) protection of audiovisual content.

We often rarely pronounce ourselves in such decisions, but from iPadizate we have to say: We are absolutely against this ban.. It does not constitute any violation of the law. What about people who buy an HDMI adapter? What about users who don’t have internet access and no other way to play streaming content?

Personally, years ago, when I bought my first iPad, I used HDMI adapters with Apple devices to play multimedia content on my TV. I have to say it made things a lot easier for me and I was very pleased with how it worked. Same thing happened to me with AirPlay.

Currently I only use the HDMI ports on the TV to connect Apple TV (great) and other types of devices. But it never hurts to have an alternative such as using HDMI adapters to mirror content to the TV screen.
