Apple has released a new firmware update for AirPods. version 4E71 It is currently available and can be installed on AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. All the AirPods Apple currently sells.
We don’t know what’s new in this versionSince Apple did not provide us with information about improvements and did not provide an easy way to update AirPods. But what we do know is that you can already download it.
Check your AirPods firmware and “force” update
As you know, updating AirPods is a little different from other Apple devices. We don’t have the classic update window to download new software, something that happens without us noticingin the background.
To check if your AirPods are updated, simply connect your AirPods to an iPhone or iPad and go to: Settings > Bluetooth and press the “i” button You will be able to see the information of your AirPods appearing next to the name of your AirPods including the firmware version they have installed.
AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max have been updated to the same firmware version: 4E71. If this version does not appear in the information of your AirPods, the AirPods will need to be updated and for this you must follow these steps:
- While the AirPods are in the charging case, charge them using a Lightning cable or a wireless charger.
- AirPods must be connected to your iPhone or iPad.
- Your iPhone or iPad must have an internet connection.
- We don’t know exactly how much after a while, AirPods will update themselves to the latest version.
- It is easier to update the devices if the battery is 100%.
with this update Apple insists on unified versionsEarlier, each AirPod model had its own firmware version, and now there is the same for both versions.
