Ending a relationship that led to the creation of one of the most popular games of all time would pose risks for football’s governing body, FIFA, but make little difference for the players, experts say. This is the worst failure in the company since the hack.

Nearly three decades later, one of the most successful business relationships in the sport has come to an end. Months of tense negotiations between video game maker Electronic Arts and FIFA ended without an agreement to expand the multi-billion dollar partnership.

The current deal, which was supposed to end after this year’s World Cup in Qatar, will run until the Women’s World Cup next summer. Once this tournament is over, 150 million FIFA video game players will have to get used to a new video game: EA Sports FC.

From a player’s point of view, your experience shouldn’t change much as most clubs and ball stars will still be playable due to separate licensing agreements with their teams and leagues, although we will no longer have the World Cup and Champions.

For millions of people around the world, the letters FIFA do not represent real football, but an abbreviation. from a series of video games that have become the backdrop for the lives of hundreds of millions of gamers. FIFA is a real organization, but for many it’s just a game.

As The New York Times explains, the game has generated over $20,000 million in sales over the past two decades.. Which is a real outrage.

Despite the profitable nature of the association, the gap has been observed for several months. And, of course, the dispute arose due to different financial expectations: FIFA wanted to double the $150 million it receives annually from EA Sports. and they will not have the exclusivity of the license.

From FIFA’s point of view, a request for exclusivity would limit its options in the digital world. where new games and new platforms have emerged that promise potentially significant revenue streams.

The organization has already negotiated a number of contracts for football-themed games, some of which it plans to launch before the end of this year.

However, these games will not offer the same football experience that FIFA currently has. To do this, consumers will have to wait until 2024, when FIFA will announce the release of a football simulator.. Let’s see how it ends.
