Under no circumstances is it allowed to add whey to milk in Colombia. However, what is the trajectory of these companies in this important market in the country? Here we tell you:

It is part of Grupo Gloria, a Peruvian industrial conglomerate that has been in the dairy industry for nearly four decades (1986) and has a presence in seven countries in the region. He came to Colombia in 2006 and manages California products alongside brands like Algarra and Lechesan.

According to Superindustry, the brands that Gloria Colombia SAS must provide consumers with clear, accurate, adequate and precise information are:

• Long-life whole milk (Algarra)
• Long-life whole milk (Carulla)
• Whole milk (Algarra)
• Long Life Milk (Gold Medal)
• Whole milk (De la Cuesta)

The company has been investigated and sanctioned for adding whey in Peru, Panama, and the United States.

In 1995, the first pasteurized milk and longevity products under the Parmalat brand were launched in Colombia in Bogota, Cali and Medellin and later on the Atlantic Coast. Three years later, in 1998, Parmalat bought the food company Proleche and with it a new product line.

However, the French Lactalis Group, founded in Laval in 1933, was supposed to acquire Italian Parmalat in 2011 and become a leader in dairy with a presence on five continents.

Collecting more than 200 million liters of milk annually in different regions of the country today, the company has five production facilities dedicated to the production of liquid milk, milk powder, yoghurt, milk cream and dessert. It has 1,300 employees.

It was founded in 1953 by Friedrich Dockweiler, who fell in love with the savannah and bought the land where his production facility is located. Its name (Pomar) comes from a German word meaning “pomarada, a place with fruit trees, especially apple trees, and a green landscape”.

The founder had no children or a wife, and at his death left the management of the company in the hands of his nephew, who was also German, who died after spending five years at the head of the company.

Then this is in charge of her husband, who is also German, and now passed the restructuring law, after which the company was bought by Colombian investors who bet on its resurgence.

In order to give our brand an up-to-date, fresh and modern personality, large investments are made to change the image of our products and our logo, optimizing the image of our brand in general; preserving traditional components such as our iconic glass bottle, which has become an important feature of tradition and history, by associating it with the nature of the countryside.
