Google Maps allows the user to add what type of engine their vehicle is using to show service stations, charging points, in the case of electric vehicles, to find an energy efficient route, not just at traffic time or alternative routes.
According to the dedicated portal ‘9to5Google’, one of the upcoming changes to the platform will allow the user to choose the most energy efficient route based on the type of vehicle they are traveling in; ie petrol, diesel, electric or hybrid.
The change will be in version 11.39, which is the latest update to the Google Maps beta.. because there you can choose the type of engine used by the vehicle.
At the user’s choice, the map will also be among the route options that save the most energy or fuel, have fewer traffic lights or stops, and also have service stations along the way.
