President Gustavo Petro spoke this Friday after the controversy sparked by Carlos Gustavo Cano’s departure from Ecopetrol’s board of directors. Cano was unanimously appointed head of the entity this Thursday, but this Friday the decision was reversed and Saul Kattan.

According to reports, this case has caused unease in some sectors, as the head of state did not approve of the appointment.

“The resolution prompted by the president has been achieved,” Cano said.

Facing controversy, the president wrote on his Twitter account that “Ecopetrol, like other companies, structured its board of directors according to shareholding status, majority of the shares are owned by the State,” and the new Board of Directors consists of the following people. They worked in EEB and ETB companies and contributed to their increase in value.

On the other hand, the head of state stated that “the rights of minority shareholders will always be respected” and his directive to government representatives on the board is to increase the value of the company.
