The life of famous Chilean television presenter Claudia Conserva changed dramatically on June 17, 2022.
The 49-year-old cheerleader had a mammogram (chest X-ray) that day, as every year.
However, this time the results were not positive. The doctors said he had it triple negative breast cancerIt is one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat cancers.
Since then, Conserva has battled the disease through intensive treatment that includes several rounds of chemotherapy.
Part of this difficult road is described in a new documentary called bravapremiered last week on Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN).
The 3-part audio-visual recording is particularly impressive, as most of the footage is captured on his cell phone, from his home or private clinic where he is being treated.
The demonstrator insisted that the purpose of publishing this candid material was to raise awareness about the importance of routine check-ups for detecting breast cancer in a timely manner.
“I wanted to share this intimate experience because the message seemed urgent to me. brava “It’s a recording at the beginning of the documentary that shows that a timely diagnosis can help save your life,” says the animator.

Claudia Conserva joins other well-known characters who want to make her fight against cancer visible.
One of them is BBC presenter Deborah James, who became an activist against the disease and raises money for medical research and awareness campaigns after she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016. James died in June of last year.
Claudia Conserva began her television career in Chile in 1990 when she was just 16 years old.
Since then, successful television, morning and reality shows, as well as participating in various soap operas. 30 years on screen have made him a well-known and loved character in the South American country.
That’s why she created a stir when she made her breast cancer diagnosis public via her Instagram account.

“I realized that I had to devote myself solely to healing. And I realized that I had to leave my old life,” she says in the documentary, referring to her overwork and the cigarette she smokes every day.
The recovery process was particularly complicated due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Not being able to leave your home, not being able to see your friends or family, especially at the beginning of the treatment, Claudia Conserva assures self-recording is part of ‘therapy’.
“I felt it was good for me,” she says brava.
After being diagnosed for the first time, the cheerleader had to undergo a variety of tests, including a biopsy to find out how aggressive her cancer was, and a CT scan, known as PET, to determine the extent of the disease in the rest of her body.
The latter showed that it was limited to the right breast only. But the biopsy confirmed that her cancer was particularly aggressive. Conserva remembers that “the world was falling apart” at that moment.
“Even though I knew there was no metastasis, I knew it was aggressive cancer and went crazy. I disappeared. I died while I was alive, I died,” says the presenter of the documentary, visibly emotional.
For him, one of the most difficult things in this process is seeing his family accompany him in sadness.
“The pain of seeing your children suffer for you is heartbreaking. The pain of seeing your husband helpless,” she says in the movie.
Her husband, Juan Carlos Valdivia, who is also a famous Chilean presenter, accompanied her throughout the treatment, as did her sister Francisca.
He thanked them on his Instagram account.
“How important is emotional support, empathy, trust, patience, friendship, compassion… Cancer is a drama that affects us all(…). Clinging to patients and their families, no This disease is easy… We all suffer, the environment is affected. It is not easy. I know. I live, we live. It is very difficult,” he wrote in October last year.
The cheerleader has had to undergo several rounds of chemotherapy since July 2022, and she documented it in detail on her cell phone.. so, in brava In the clinic, he is seen being transported from place to place with a venous catheter, surrounded by specialists, or on a stretcher.
“This is the first battle of this war, where I will give absolutely everything to kill the enemy,” he says in one of the shots where he took chemotherapy drugs.
“There’s an American writer named Anne Boyer, and she says in her book ‘Destroy’ that accepting chemotherapy is like choosing to jump off a building with a gun to your head. That phrase identified me. So, there’s no way out,” reflects the presenter.
After her first chemo, Claudia Conserva says she felt happy and relieved to know she was battling the disease.
“I am happy,” he repeats several times. However, when he started to feel the effects of the treatment, the picture changed.
“I feel bad now. I’m nauseous. That’s holding me back. I couldn’t drive, I couldn’t stop,” he admits.
“It was good that it was me. I couldn’t bear to have a son go through this. Fortunately it was me and not them,” he adds.
Hair loss was one of the most challenging processes of the cheerleader during the treatment process. and especially when he had to give the crew a haircut.
“I never thought that going completely bald would affect me this much. And yes, something happened to me,” he says in the documentary.
“I’ve become more emotionally unstable … the fact of being bald … there is no way to escape from being sick now,” she adds.
The film reflects the agony he has had to go through in recent months.. The famous cheerleader assures that she is no longer motivated, sad, tired.
“I’m tired, tired of being cancer,” she says.
Currently, Claudia Conserva continues to fight the disease.
Although his evolution is good, he is away from the screens and continues to recover.
Among several press releases he’s made in recent months, he has reassured that he doesn’t currently have a date in March to return to television.
