A new look at the upcoming film directed by Taika Waititi revealed a number of details of interest to Marvel fans. The word RIP (Rest in Peace) can also be read between the shoulder blades and below, what looks like a scroll can be discerned.
And while the trailer doesn’t make it clear (hopefully it does in the movie), when and where the tattoo was done, it’s most likely a tribute to Loki. For context, despite his previous behavior, the god of mischief ended up with a flawless atonement arc. And in fact, his death was the result of his desperate attempt to stop Thanos from torturing Thor. Which would explain the character’s posthumous homage to his very complex and almost always ambiguous brother.
The tattoo reproduces the crown of long, pointed horns that Loki wore in battle. A completely different version of the smaller version and the broken horn used by all variants of the anti-hero in the series that bears his name. There is reason to suspect that this is the memory of a character killed off in one of the darkest moments of the Marvel saga on the big screen.
Will Loki – any of his variants – be in Thor: Love and Thunder?
Of course, it surfaced again after the trailer. So far, there is no sign that the character will return. Indeed, Tom Hiddleston has spent a great deal of time and energy vehemently denying this. However, a significant part of the fans are convinced that the tattoo may indicate a reunion.
