Last episodes of the third season Bridgertons, start with the same scenario as the previous ones. Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) have just discovered their love for each other. A revelation that puts an end to months of tension, ambiguous situations and, in the end, a long history of friendship that seemed to lead the heroes nowhere. Shonda Rhimes’ Netflix series doesn’t forget its romance origins and does it justice right away.

But season three was responsible for bringing things to a head, delivering the first four episodes that not only brought the season’s romance together to fruition. At the same time, it became a look at the future of both. Especially her, who is about to cease being an ideal candidate for marriage and very close to accepting the offer, just so as not to remain under the roof of his family.

So the story resumes its rhythm, but with this difference: for the first time, Bridgerton depends not on the love between its main characters, but on the conflict that is about to break out between them. In the final chapters, Penelope and Colin face two situations at the same time. At the moment, he wants to get married and announce it as publicly as possible.

Bridgertons (part 2)

“Bridgerton” concludes its third season, raising the bar and making this the best season of the series. Not only to resolve the central conflict in a surprising and sophisticated way, but also to find its own style beyond its violations of historical drama. The result is a premise of tragic love that becomes increasingly interesting and complex until it leads to a shocking ending.

Love in the middle of difficult places in “Bridgerton”

She, for her part, knows that such an obligation includes disclosing her activities as the author of the fashion series. This puts additional pressure on the commitment of both. Added to this is the decision of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) to reveal who the voice of discord is and high-level gossip that he had to deal with more than once.

Finally, there is the opposition of Colin’s sister, Eloise (Claudia Jessie), to the engagement between him and Penelope. Reason: Last season, she discovered that Lady Whistledown was her childhood friend. This, after months of enduring their criticism and ridicule. From which Colin, in a sense, also suffered.

The new episodes not only immediately address this dilemma, but also make it the center of the season. It’s an intriguing change from the show’s usual dynamics, relying entirely on how the main couple finds love. But it turns out that here he not only found it, but is also ready to take it to the altar. And in the end he does it. But I encountered only one problem: a potentially devastating revelation of Penelope’s alter ego, which could ruin her life – socially and romantically – as well as expose her family to legal proceedings.

A new way to talk about love

This piece is an experiment that shows the individual parts and turns the Julia Quinn adaptation into something completely new. On the one hand, this is the first film that, at the time of its premiere, divided the chapters into two parts. On the other hand, it directly addresses one of the most famous elements of the production.

Namely, the identity of Lady Whistledown, a gossip and gossip correspondent from a fictional London. The combination of both made the first four episodes an interesting prologue to the busiest part of the season. The result is a short story about the apparent misfortune at the door, shown from different angles. The fact is that Penelope is crushed by the consequences of voicing her dissent on the show for years.

What it’s about: marrying Colin (who, once the season’s big secret is revealed, decides to go ahead with his marriage plans so as not to disgrace Penelope) and the collision of his life in the midst of an increasingly complex and disturbing situation. There will be a happy ending (more or less), but not right away.

A more interesting and better written season finale than previous ones.

With little screen time left, the final chapters of the series’ new season Bridgertons, they use events skillfully. So quickly Penelope will have to face the threat of Eloise. You must accept that Lady Whistledown will appear before Colin and also before the Court to face the consequences. If you don’t, Eloise will do it herself, no matter what happens.

It’s with such urgency that the series reaches its best moments. What should be a moment of happiness for Penelope turns into excruciating pain, which also requires her to consider two options. Losing Colin – either through his confession or Eloise’s – or disappearing, which may include agreeing to an unwanted engagement. What’s most exciting about the latest episodes is how the show explores the production’s central romantic element from a new angle. This time happiness seems tragic in origin.

It also allows the script to explore its characters in more depth and detail. Especially Penelope and Colin. Both of them are not just lovers, they are exemplary representatives of the society they represent in fiction. So Penelope, about to enter spinster neutral territory, admitting that she had betrayed the trust of her fiancé and his family, condemnation of rejection.

For his part, Colin knows that he is in love with a complex woman whom he does not fully understand. Luke Newton is at his best as a man living in difficult terrain and, in many ways, as a devoted lover. Bridgertons leaving behind a few trivial and predictable twists to give the third season a significant a personality who marks the before and after in the series.

After season three of Bridgerton, nothing will be the same.

One of the things that’s most interesting about this conclusion is that it demonstrates that the series can reinvent itself. Bridgertons They seemed to stick to their unique formula of immersing themselves in a complex romance that ends in everlasting happiness. While the third season is largely rooted in romance, it leaves room for genuine questions about the characters’ desires, quests, and fears. Especially when love threatens or can change their lives.

The conclusion of the third season, closer to romantic chic than all previous episodes, does not pretend to be a narrative – at least not entirely – a historical drama. Thus, the entire aesthetic—from the characters’ appearances to the environments—becomes a second look at an increasingly bold story. Penelope is not a disgraced lady. She is a woman with talent who must decide how best to use it and if she has to sacrifice love in the midst of a difficult transition that will lead her to a confrontation with Colin.

Definitely, Bridgertons have come a long way from fashionable drama to stylish production. Which confirms the third season with a deeper, more mature story and, in the end, so touching that it brings fans to tears. When the door is open for the fourth game, The series seems to have reached its best moment. Good news for his followers.
