But before the actor came out in court against his ex-wife, Depp had signed a contract for a movie, titled La Favorite, in which he takes on the role of Louis XV. The rights to the feature film have just been acquired by Netflixbut it is a specific agreement that currently only concerns France, and which La Favorite will not include in the originals of the platform.

The news was reported by Bloomberg. According to reports, the agreement will allow Netflix to distribute the film on the platform 15 months after it’s released in theaters. At the moment it is an agreement that only concerns France. Netflix will not help fund the project. Although Bloomberg initially mentioned this detail, Variety later denied it.

Shooting for La Favorite will start this summer in France. The project is led by Maïwenn Le Besco. La Favorite will be distributed in 2023. The film tells the story of Louis XV, the king who preceded the executed King Louis XVI.
