Open Wardrobe as a fashion hub, good people and a good atmosphere

At any time of the year, everyone can have a moment when they want to lift their spirits from the daily grind and somehow get away from it all. There are many ways to do this, but one of them is somehow common to everyone – shopping. However, from my personal experience, shopping malls are not very popular lately, there is just nothing that stands out and the prices can be quite repulsive. And then, at one point, I came across an ad about the Open Cabinet in Minsk (advertising aimed at Instagram, a banned social network in Russia, can sometimes still throw up interesting things), which I had heard about several times from friends before . Since it was held the next weekend, I decided to look there and never regretted it.

What is an Open Closet?

Open Cabinet is a kind of cultural flea market where everyone has the opportunity to buy products for almost every taste, as well as sell their own. With this opportunity, this event attracts a large number of talented designers, craftsmen and other experts. Everyone has something to surprise, plus it’s also a good advertisement for your own products. The participation procedure itself is quite simple: you need to submit an application, which is in the header of the Instagram profile, and display your range of products. Subsequently, it may come to the point that the Cabinet itself invites you to participate in the future.

Although the wardrobe has been around for a long time, from the beginning it could attract like-minded people and lovers of vintage, rare and vinyl items. Now it has become a kind of meeting place where you can come, relax, chat about everything, not only with random visitors, but also with vendors. Although the Locker Room has no age restrictions, the main incoming audience is young, but you can also meet children with their parents or older people. This place attracts not only its compatriots, but also foreigners, during my two visits I managed to see more boys of Asian nationality than anywhere in the city center. What is the range of products?

As I wrote before, there is something to see and choose from: the market presents projects that sell vintage items, personalized items, items made from recycled materials (upcycling), selective second-hand and much more. It even gets to the point where you might want to buy something you didn’t originally think of taking. It is worth starting with the main assortment of products – clothing. There is a large selection of outerwear, from ordinary t-shirts to vintage leather jackets or coats, you can also choose pants and shoes (they are in a smaller variety). Here you can find both familiar clothing brands and designer masterpieces and interesting ideas. You can even catch a small fashion show from one of the designers. I also couldn’t resist and bought a designer item, although this seemed out of place for my wardrobe, but I was very pleased.

Accessories

In addition to clothing, you can choose accessories for yourself: glasses, shopper, bags, there is also a large selection of jewelry in the form of bracelets, rings and earrings made of epoxy resin, stainless metal, gold and other materials. There were also a couple of people who, right in front of you, could make you a metal ring with whatever inscription you wanted. All vendors are people of very good character and understanding, always ready to help with the choice and advise.

Other

Also in the Cabinet they offer to buy vinyl records with well-known compositions, film cameras for every taste. There are guys who make great scented candles and soaps, where even the pickiest of customers will find something to their liking. Also, I managed to notice the presence of perfume and a couple of vendors with their own unique wares like paints, Harry Potter wands, pins and much more. If you are suddenly a bit tired of shopping and choosing things, you can also buy homemade cakes, coffee or hot chocolate and other drinks there. Now when he drives past the Sandbox, there are food trucks nearby.

Prices

As for the price, everything is very attractive and democratic. Clothing prices range from 15 to 100 rubles. For decorations and candles: from 30 to 75. They can change from cabinet to cabinet, but you can always try to negotiate and reset it a bit. Even if you suddenly don’t have enough for what you want, you can save the seller’s contacts and pick it up later.

What impression?

So far I have managed to visit two closets and each time it was a very pleasant experience and I did not leave empty handed. There is always a nice and warm atmosphere, full of good people, a wide variety of products. It is worth visiting at least once, you will definitely not lose anything, but most likely you will even win. Don’t forget to support Belarusian designers and other talented people as much as possible.
