After Bohemian Rapsody, the number of musical biopics in production and released in theaters has increased dramatically, and only recently have we seen the movie about Elvis on the big screen. Now there is also a biopic about it in production Amy Winehousetitled Back to Black, whose director has been found: we’re talking Sam Taylor Johnsonfilmmaker who previously worked on Fifty Shades of Grey.

It looks like production has arrived at the time of casting selection, and we’ll soon know who will be playing the part of the iconic Amy Winehouse. the fact that the direction of the project has been entrusted to Sam Taylor-Johnson is something important, as he is a close friend of the late singer.

The film and its production will have the support of Mitch Winehouse, the singer’s father, and this is not obvious, as Mitch Winehouse himself previously criticized the documentary Amy.

Back to Black was written by Matt Greenhalgh, who previously collaborated with Taylor-Johnson on Nowhere Boy, and who also wrote Control, a feature film about the life of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. Studiocanal will produce the project along with Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Tracey Seaward.
