The Rolling Stone report revealing the presence of 13% of bot accounts running the campaign for the Snyder Cut from Justice League also revealed other interesting details about the production. One of these concerns the character of Martian Manhunter and the fact that DC Films didn’t want the character used because it was intended to be used in other productions.

According to the report, DC Films president Walter Hamada did not want the use of Martian Manhunter in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, while Jason Kilar, the CEO of WarnerMedia, allowed him to be present in two scenes, and also allowed Snyder to spend $13 million on to pick up his version of the film.

All this caused internal controversy, as it was a production that had already lost hundreds of millions of dollars with its theatrical release. The hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, however, following the distribution of the disappointing film completed by Joss Whedon, generated a very strong media push, which, beyond the bots, highlighted the strong presence of an audience in support of Snyder, leading to the production of the Snyderian version of the feature film which was released in March 2021.
