A new series for young adults will be released on Peacock on September 15: we’re talking Vampire Academytaken from the series of six novels by Richelle Mead, known in Italy as The Vampire Academy. Here is the official trailer of the television conversion.

In total, the season will run for about ten hours spread over ten episodes, just enough to dissect a bit of the history of Richelle Mead’s novels.

The development of the TV series on Vampire Academy was announced a year ago. After creating Vampire Diaries for The CW, Julie Plec has signed a deal with Universal Television to bring the teen romance series to the screen.

The story of Vampire Academy focuses on a group of girls who complete their educational phase within the Royal Vampire Society. The official synopsis presents the show as a story of:

Danger, romance and friendship, in a world of privilege and glamour. Cultivating a friendship that transcends their social classes, two girls prepare to enter the academy: one belongs to the Royals and the other to the Guardians, trying to fight off the Strigoi, evil vampires bent on destroying society.

Julie Plec, along with her longtime collaborator Marguerite MacIntyre, will serve as the series’ co-showrunner and executive producers. The books have already been made into a movie produced by Lionsgate in 2014.
