Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finally confirmed what was an open secret. Namor (Tenoch Huerta) is a mutant, making him second only to Kamala Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nonetheless, the big question that this revelation raises is what will be the role of King Talokan in the future.. Will he be a figure to be feared in the midst of the Wakanda universe, or will he finally figure prominently in the upcoming X-Men saga?

Ever since Marvel regained the rights to the characters in 2019, fans have been wondering how the X-Men will fit into the publisher’s movie saga. The first indication was shown in the series miss marvel, in which the protagonist turned out to be the franchise’s first official mutant. Right now in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, confirming Namor’s character makes the script more interesting. Moreover, this is not a wink and not a mention in the margins. The leader of Talokan is a very important character, with his own kingdom, and who will undoubtedly have a wider future in the saga.

The real question is whether Namor will join the mutant camp when he is officially introduced. After all, its very existence has provided a number of details about the history of X-gene carriers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the one hand, his origin story suggests that Namor was born in 1571, from which it becomes clear that the existence of mutants dates back to ancient times. This would expand on what was suggested in miss marvelin which the mutation is limited to a specific and quick mention in the last chapter of the series.

The next thing is that the manifestation of mutation is both physical and more abstract. First, Namor’s winged legs and the ability to absorb oxygen through his skin clearly show that the mutation is biological. On the other hand, Kamala Khan’s ability to absorb energy and transform it at will also points to the possibility of wider abilities. There is a wide and interesting gulf between both characters, allowing everything related to the mutant universe to be included. Do this, moreover, from the mental faculties to the faculties directly related to the physical field.

X-Men and Namor, a long and complicated history

Namor’s mutation is part of a long-running debate about the character he’s descended from in the comics. In his paper version, the character is the son of a man and a princess of Atlantis. That allows him not only to carry out genetic recombination, but also to be a synthesis of the biological qualities of his parents. On the one hand, he can breathe underwater (like his mother), and on the other hand, it is not difficult for him to breathe on the surface. He is also capable of flight and possesses powers inherited from his Atlantean ancestors, but can communicate in any human language without much trouble.

Namor’s first appearance as a mutant was in Weird X-Men No. 6 from 1964. In the narrative, Magneto tried to convince the king of Atlantis to join forces against the humans. However, Namor did not accept and, in fact, kept a safe distance from the struggle for supremacy waged by a powerful villain.

Since then, and although its plot threads are usually associated with the Fantastic Four, Namor appears frequently in X-Men stories.. As an ally, but also as a demonstration that the powerful gen-x manifests itself in many different ways. From the devastation caused by Wanda Maximoff among the mutants to the founding of the nation of Utopia. The character’s presence has been a constant and, especially, a fundamental pillar in the X-Men universe in the world of Marvel comics.

A new mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

AT Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Namor was found to be a mutant with extraordinary powers. Besides that he bears on his shoulders the humiliation of defeat at the hands of Wakanda. What could make the character look for allies among his own kind. At nearly 500 years old, it’s likely that Namor knows a lot more about the existence of mutants than one might think. Which, in turn, implies that he can form alliances in the face of a possible attack on the surface.

Could Namor’s story be the official door to introduce the world of mutants? By now, it’s clear that Talokan could be inventive and important enough to become a gathering place for the X-Men. But also a prelude to his subsequent discovery. Will there be hints of this theme in the fifth phase of Marvel? It remains only to wait.
