Quentin Tarantino spoke about the situation during his Cinema Speculation book promotion tour Harvey Weinsteinand the fact that he was unaware of anything that came out after the testimonies of the women who assaulted the former producer.
During an interview, Quentin Tarantino himself said:
I never heard the stories that came out after that. I just knew the usual things everyone said. I wanted to talk to him to tell him that he couldn’t do certain things. To tell the truth, what I knew was a bit of a Mad Man situation, with bosses chasing secretaries. And I’m not saying that this kind of behavior is okay, but it was the situations I was aware of. I’ve never heard of rape or anything like that.
And then he continued:
The reason I never spoke to him is because it was a difficult conversation. I felt pathetic, and what I did was pathetic, and I didn’t like this pathos. I never thought he was doing things like ‘you’re doing this for me or you won’t be making movies’, it was like ‘don’t find yourself in the seat of a limousine with him’. It didn’t make me feel good about everything that happened, especially the fact that I didn’t get a chance to talk to him.
Harvey Weinstein is currently serving 23 years in prison for the assaults and other abuses he committed, and is undergoing a new trial in Los Angeles. In total, Weinstein has produced nine Quentin Tarantino films.
