1899 new Netflix series created Jantje Friese D Baran Bo Odarresponsible for the very successful Dark it works really well for the platform. With a completely different premise, but with similar storytelling elements, it seems like they hit the nail on the head again.

But will the history of 1899 become as complicated as with Dark? What can we expect from the second and third season of the series? The creators answered some of these questions in an interview conducted by Hollywood Reporter. The future of the production is touched upon and even talk about how they will decide the ending, regardless of the changes that the story may undergo in the course of its development.

Faced with the question of real ambition 1899and on the potential for the next two seasons, Jantje Friese explains: “We like to have an end before we start. We want to know exactly where we are going. We are moving into history and we want to know how we will decide when we reach its closure. There may be new looser ideas in the middle, and as we progress, these may change. Dark the parallel universe was always planned for a second season, but we decided to postpone it until the third. These are things that always happen. It’s important to be flexible and let the process surprise you as you go through it, but always know where you’re going.”

“1899” has a completely different structure than “Dark”.

According to Friese, the goal was not an exact copy Dark so that 1899 structured. “I think these are two different concepts that, in terms of storytelling, should be different. Darkit’s a story about time, taking something linear, making a lot of knots and trying to get the audience to untangle them in a way that makes sense to them.”

“But 1899 has a different structure. We never thought so many people didn’t understand Dark, we will make this series more understandable. I’d say it’s 50/50. Some people find this easier to understand, others find some pieces of the puzzle more difficult. We think it’s a very personal experience. But we’re definitely not trying to make it easy to decipher.”

“What we’ve really done is stay true to our audience, who love puzzles like this and know every cultural reference. understand”.

It’s not fair for Bo Odara to compare three seasons. Dark with the first season 1899. “I think they are just as complex, but with Dark things got harder to understand in the second and third seasons.”

“With the ideas we have for the second and third seasons of 1899, the series is going to get very complex.” And, of course, this is one of the main reasons why we are so attracted to the series of this pair of directors.

First season 1899 and its eight episodes are now fully available on Netflix. The second and third seasons have already been confirmed, but they still do not have a release date. Please make sure this setting is set correctly before viewing.
