In one of the first scenes Quiet night, Tommy Wirkola, Santa Claus (funny David Harbor) vomits in the snow. Of course, the image is a statement of intent. This is a Christmas story, but not like the most famous ones should be.
Definitely, and it’s not that good person who embodies the magic of Christmas. Rather, he is a bully with a drinking problem who nonetheless has the best of intentions. A mixture that can be explosive if not downright violent.
Quiet nightin fact, it takes a considerable amount of time to establish that this grumpy, angry, good-hearted Santa defies all expectations. He wants to do good, although he no longer remembers how to do it. Also do your ancestral work, despite the fact that it is not as important to him as in other times.
Harbor endows his character with a rare mixture of cynicism and an urgent need for justification. With a more than obvious resemblance to his Red Guardian in Black Widow, Port Santa has a colossal physical presence. Also weary perception of time, good and evil. Blend supports tongue-in-cheek speech Quiet nightthat crosses the action genre to tell its story.
Funny and realistic Santa Quiet night
Of course, this is not the first cinematic experiment in which Santa Claus is used as a distorted and darker-than-usual image. Less than two years ago kill santacreated by Ash and Jan Nelms, has turned an iconic figure into a violent lonely hero.
But the Mel Gibson-faced version of the Christmas character was far more down-to-earth than Harbor’s. On this premise Quiet night he is not so interested in proving that the inhabitant of the North Pole can be wrong. Rather, it is a deeper and less predictable exploration of his personality. The most interesting of Quiet night begins when Santa must weigh his options in the face of violence. Particularly when facing John Leguizamo, who brings a cartoonish sense to an unscrupulous criminal. The latter leads a gang of kidnappers who are about to commit the biggest heist of the year.
Right on Christmas Day and very close to where Santa Claus is, this grumpy and violent version. A combination that would have been ridiculous with a less malicious scenario becomes hilarious and sarcastic. Also, when Patrick Casey and Josh Miller’s script turns Quiet night in a dark Christmas reverse.
Little Pains of Sinister Christmas
The Lightstone family, millionaires and unfortunates, are at the center of a conflict that unleashes the perception of Christmas goodness from a warped perspective. Much more so when the argument insists on presenting his home life as a kind of arid and vulgar country that he will have to face the unimaginable.
Perhaps the premise needs more depth, or at least needs to be a lot more eloquent to give more depth to its characters. But, even with that more or less superficial view that the plot gives you, Quiet night manages to function as an ingenious mechanism. He does this especially with his light-hearted tone and never takes anything too seriously.
With clear references to Alone at home, coupled with John Wick’s ultra-complex brutality, the film shines at its most inspiring moments. Especially when Harbor has to give his character an experienced and well-constructed sense of responsibility. Santa who has the knowledge, experience and strength to deal with violent criminals will do it.
Moreover, for the best reasons and under protection, considering that it is their duty. This unique twist makes Quiet night not in mockery of Christmas or Santa Claus, but in an exploration of their importance. Of course, with a good dose of spilled blood and a hail of bullets against the backdrop of Christmas carols.

Quiet night This is a great Christmas movie.
The film plays to its duality in the inspirational first part and the two that lack liveliness and enthusiasm. But for his final sequences Quiet night find what is perhaps his greatest attribute. Crazy Combination pure action story with well constructed nostalgia artifact. Much more so when he adds a sarcastic and cruel sense of humour, elegant for his interpretation of the great Christmas dramas.
Quiet night plays with the most obvious parts to create a journey through an amazing story. One who avoids cliches with the power of the absurd and with full self-awareness of his transgressive nature.
