Explanation of the explosive end of the first season diplomatic

One final per season diplomatic we see Kate Wyler discover that the UK’s plan is not to capture a mercenary linked to the attack on the aircraft carrier the series begins with. The goal was to kill him.. Feeling that Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison and her husband have taken advantage of her, she leaves the Paris gala she is attending. Especially considering the obvious attraction between her and Dennison.

But after a short conversation, during which Austin Dennison explains to Kate Wyler that the Prime Minister cannot order Lenkov’s execution without going through him – and he never approved of this plan – at this point she concludes that to kill him wanted only by those who hired the mercenary. ., and thus hide the true plan.

Kate also assumes that Dennison is unaware of Lenkov’s assassination plan, so she asks him to give her his cell phone because she fears they are being eavesdropped on through the device.

Meanwhile in London, Hal Wyler is seen on his way to a meeting with Merritt Grove. But after taking a seat at a restaurant table, Stuart Hayford and his assistant Ronnie approach him at Kate’s request. Grove becomes frustrated and leaves the meeting place, both following him as Hal is seen approaching the politician from the opposite direction.

But when Merritt Grove opens his car door, it immediately explodes. This would confirm that the prime minister was the one who planned the terrorist attack in his country – for political gain – and perhaps Grove knew about it and wanted to tell Hal Wyler about it.

In the last scene of the final episode of the first season diplomaticwe see Kate Wyler and Austin Dennison react to the news of the explosion as both are approached by police and security forces, apparently escorting them to safety in fear of another attack.

The episode ends like this, leaving many questions in the air that are bound to be answered in Season 2. Who survived the explosion? Is Prime Minister Trowbridge really behind this whole conspiracy, or is there a larger force? Is Dennison really innocent, or is he playing a bigger role alongside Kate Wyler?
