Korotkova noted that arcade and puzzle games can also be beneficial for stress relief. Riddles and intellectual tasks activate the parasympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system, reducing the release of adrenaline and other “stress hormones.”
But the psychologist warns that using video games to relieve stress should not become a habit. Abuse of games can lead to an addiction similar to alcohol or drugs.
It is important to remember that game projects are only a temporary pain reliever and the solution to the problem must be sought in other methods of stress relief.
