According to the official report, reports came from municipalities near the epicenter: Gachantivá and Hagia Sophia.

As reported by the SGC, the perceived intensity was quite light, only 2 points. Due to its characteristics, the recent earthquake is not considered a major earthquake.

As seen in a video recently published on the Geological Service’s accounts, actor and geologist Diego Vásquez Camayo stated that for an earthquake to be “concerning” different factors must be taken into account; Up to 2,500 earthquakes can occur in Colombia per month.

“The closer you are to the epicenter, the more intense the movement will be felt and the greater the effects will be,” commented Vásquez.

The more superficial and larger the earthquake, the more it will be felt in the surrounding districts.
