If you are one of those who love virtual reality and all that it has to offer, over the past five years you have had to enjoy it like never before. HTC, Lenovo, HP, Facebook, Sony and many other companies have dared to enter this market and have achieved very good results.

Of all the companies, Sony has always stood out from the rest, making a firm bet on such technologies. From a more gaming point of view, since its approach was primarily gaming, the Japanese company is one of the big proponents of virtual reality.

At the end of 2016, the company released its first virtual reality glasses. It was the PlayStation VR and they came along with the PlayStation 4, a console released in 2013 that struggled to keep up with new generation hardware. But that didn’t stop Sony.

During these years, in addition to launching exclusive VR games, PlayStation has been developing what will become the next generation of virtual reality glasses. As you can imagine, the name is no mystery: PlayStation VR2. And the best part is that we already have a release date.

The company first showed off the new hardware, including updated headsets and updated controllers, in February. We now know it will release in early 2023, though the day or month remains a mystery.

Inspired by the PS5’s softer design aesthetic, PS VR2 will feature softer, more forgiving ergonomics, as well as live streaming and cinematic mode.

According to a PlayStation blog post from last month, the new setting will have a resolution of 4000 x 2040 pixels (i.e. 2000 x 2040 per eye) at 90/120 Hz, while the “transparent mode” safety feature will prevent players from crashing into walls.

At the moment we do not have an official price for these glassesalthough the previous ones were released at around 200 euros and everything indicates that we will see a similar stripe, although it may be somewhat more expensive.
