Sharing the pelvis, reproductive system, liver, blood circulation, and many internal structures didn’t stop Carmen and Lupita Andrade from trying to lead a normal life. Conjoined twins study, go to the movies, play sports, and one of them is having an emotional affair.

Born in Mexico, they came to the United States with their parents in 2002 hoping to undergo separation surgery that was not done at the time or later.
Surgery was refused because of the risks involved for Carmen and Lupita. Faced with this unusual scenario, conjoined twins had no choice but to learn to share organs, cavities, and lives in general.
“Sometimes at the end of the day we get so tired and don’t want to talk. That’s when we use different devices and do our own thing. We’ve been together all our lives, so we don’t miss our independence. That’s all we know, isn’t it?” said Carmen, in dialogue with the more extrovert of the two, “Today.”

They both live with their families in Connecticut, United States. Carmen is studying at university to become a veterinary nurse, and Lupita hopes to work in the same field as a technician. Still, deep down, she doesn’t rule out that she can reveal her skills as a comedy writer. “I talk almost all the time, but he’s hilarious,” Carmen said.
Their genetic condition has caused them to face many difficulties throughout their existence. For example, walking with only one leg each was one of the first. However, it was not and perhaps never will be the only one.
As a little girl, they had to deal with infantilization, and as they got older, they came across fetishes of people who were excited to have sex with both at the same time.
Building her love life was not an easy task, especially for Carmen. Social anxiety, fear of stigma, and insecurities were factors that stood out to us for a long time. That was until she met Daniel, whom she had been with for over two and a half years.
Lupita’s public declaration that she is asexual (a sexual orientation with little or no sexual attraction to another person) did not prevent Carmen from having a loving relationship.
Contrary to what many think, Lupita’s wish is for her sister to be able to formalize and establish herself in the field of love. “I know this is important to him,” says the conjoined twin, who accompanies the happy couple on all their dates, adventures, travels and romantic moments.
(Interesting: Siamese twins claim that even though they are two, they only get one paycheck for the work they do).
With the hand of Carmen Daniel she managed to achieve what seemed distant at the time: a stable, comprehensive and lasting relationship. As she explained in a conversation with the aforementioned medium, she met him in October 2020 through Hinge, a dating app, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Accustomed to receiving messages from men with fetishes, Siamese knew from the start that Daniel was different. The young man, unlike other suitors, did not show interest in Carmen because of her genetic condition.
“I’ve never tried to hide the fact that I’m a conjoined twin, which means I get a lot of messages from men with fetishes. “I knew from the beginning that Daniel was different from the others because he didn’t start by asking a question about my situation,” said Andrade, one of the nurses.
A few months ago, for the Ask Me Anything YouTube channel, Carmen admitted that she had no sexual relationship with her husband because she shared the same reproductive system as her conjoined twin. Together with Daniel and Lupita, they agreed to set some boundaries. In this area, abstinence is one of them.
“Obviously I was going to be transparent about everything. It was a learning process for everyone. We needed to have a discussion about which boundaries were appropriate and which were not. We’re not that close and he (Daniel) is okay with that,” Carmen admitted.
Setting boundaries in the sexual sphere did not prevent Siamese and his partner from consolidating a strong relationship. In fact, his future plans include living together and then getting engaged. It seems that these goals are OK for Lupita.
According to her sister’s ‘Today’ account, Lupita and Daniel have such a good relationship that when Carmen falls asleep she chats with her sister-in-law until morning.
“Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend a lot of time with Daniel. So we try to compromise. (Lupita) It’s like choosing where we go out to dinner or what activity we do,” Carmen explained.
The couple could not have children of their own, even if they wanted to. This is because Carmen has endometriosis with her conjoined twin. The most common symptoms of this condition include pain during intercourse, excessive menstrual bleeding, and in some cases, infertility.
Mexican conjoined twins also have a hormone blocker that prevents them from menstruating.
Carmen and Lupita document their lives on social networks, especially TikTok, to normalize their situation. There they are open to their routines, performing the challenges, and sharing the day-to-day details. They do the same on Instagram. They often post landscape photos and immortalize their trips with Daniel.
“Two years with myself, my best friend. Thank you for giving me a happiness that I have never experienced before you came. One of the few things that the young woman did not share with her brother was the note “Happy birthday my love” on her Instagram account.
