This Friday, the new WWE 2K22, the new game that Visual Concepts is looking to save the franchise after receiving strong reviews for the 2020 version, was released.

After two years, the game has been revamped to take advantage of the graphics power of next-gen consoles, as well as to offer a brighter and more accessible graphics experience for everyone. We had the opportunity to try this game on Xbox Series X and here are our first impressions:

For this edition, company redesigned game and animation engine, which can be proven right from the start. On the one hand, there is the graphic quality that stands out for the great resemblance of some characters to real-life fighters, for example Dwayne Johnson (‘The Rock’). On the other hand, there are animations that express precision in their execution and in interacting with objects and characters.

The company pointed out that it uses the same scanning and animation process used in the NBA 2K series for this purpose.

Another remarkable change it brought WWE 2K22 is a simplified game system which should be noted that this does not limit the wide variety of movements in wrestling. All it takes is a tap button, a heavy hit button, a grapple button and a defense button to perform a wide variety of combos and attacks.

In addition, after the character’s bar is charged by using triggers, variations of basic movements and execution of special moves are provided.

Away from the memes proliferating on social networks criticizing the bugs with the launch of WWE 2K20, this title shows good quality and a return to basics with the user at the center, regardless of whether they are an expert in wrestling, thus providing new impetus for a franchise.
