The Foundation applied to the court with the demand that the Attorney General’s requests to block access to some publications of the world encyclopedia be unlawful.
Note that previously, during 2023, the Wikimedia Foundation was repeatedly fined for failing to comply with the requirement to remove false information about SVO, information about extremist organizations, and other information banned in Russia.
The amount of fines imposed on the fund in these cases amounted to about 10 million rubles.
According to experts, the decision regarding the Wikimedia Foundation’s claims will be an important event in terms of discussing freedom of information and the right to access information.
