ICS (former Twitter) filed a lawsuit against the organization Media Matters, which discovered that the social network was placing advertising publications next to posts praising Nazism.

The company claims that in this way Media Matters is tarnishing its reputation. The lawsuit alleges that the organization is “manipulating” the social network by using accounts that follow only the profiles of major brands or users who produce fringe content. These accounts “constantly scrolled and refreshed” the feed until they found ads next to extremist posts.

The Media Matters report used a typical X experience with “the intent to harm the social network and its business.”

Media Matters President Angelo Carusone called the lawsuit “frivolous” and said it was “designed to intimidate X’s critics into silence.” [Reuters]
