Milos Wagner, vice-president of Roskomnadzor, said that Russian authorities are considering the possibility of paying compensation to victims of personal data leaks who reported this through the public services portal. According to him, the Ministry of Digital Development has approved the possibility of implementing this initiative.

If this decision is made, people whose data has been leaked to the public will not need to contact the operator directly and go to court. The official states that instead, it would be sufficient to log into the Government Services, declare the fact of a leak, and claim compensation directly from the operator without confirming the ownership of this personal data.

Wagner believes it is crucial to ensure that the rights of a person whose information has been disclosed to the public are restored to proportional compensation, rather than to establish liability for the operators whose data has been leaked.
