Roskomnadzor shared the latest statistics on this subject. The ministry said that since the beginning of 2023 alone, it has sent 177 notifications of user data leaks from Russian companies.
At the same time, 70 such notifications were sent from 1 September 202 to the end of the year. This is due to the requirements of the new law, which requires operators of personal data processing to report leaks to the agency.
In the event of a data leak, operators must report it to Roskomnadzor within 24 hours, investigate within three days and report the causes and perpetrators.
The law also provides for notification of cross-border transfers of personal data. In May 2023, there were 75 leaks from Russian commercial companies and state organizations, which is 1.5 times more than in the same period last year.
