Honor Magic 5 Ultimate is very similar to Honor A5 Pro. But is it better than the high-end iPhone 14 Pro Max?
The box comes with the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate along with a USB-C cable, 66W power supply, a case, quick start guide and a paper clip. You cannot insert a memory card into a smartphone.
The sound of the smartphone is stereo, it also has DTS X Ultra sound effects. But overall, the device feels average. It is also equipped with water protection according to the IP68 standard.
The screen of Honor Magic 5 Ultimate is OLED Fullview, the diagonal is 6.81 inches. At the same time, the screen is not flat, but has rounded edges. The battery capacity of Magic 5 Ultimate is 5350 mAh. PC Mark managed to run 12 hours and 33 minutes. As for the charging speed, the device is fully charged in 47 minutes. It averaged 7% of the charge for 1 hour of watching YouTube, and 19% for an hour of gaming – with maximum brightness and simultaneous streaming on Twitch. The main camera has three lenses. This is a 50 MP main, 50 MP wide, 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 122 degree angle of view, with autofocus and optical stabilization. It has 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. You can record video at a maximum of 4K 60fps at the same time. The front camera for Honor has a resolution of 12 MP and you can shoot videos at a maximum of 4K 30 fps (iPhone 14 Pro Max – 4K maximum at 60 fps).
In terms of video recording, of course, the iPhone 14 Pro Max takes the lead compared to the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate. It has better autofocus and works more stable overall. Color rendition is also more accurate on the iPhone.
The photos obtained on the front camera are very similar in quality in both cases. But at night, noticeable differences in detail between the iPhone and Honor are already visible.

Of the main cons of the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate, the absence of a headphone jack, support for charging only 66 watts, the inability to expand the memory, the processor throttling and overheating, the absence of Google services in the Chinese version (and the very expensive global version with a Google services), not very high quality video recording .
Compared to similar flagships, Honor Magic 5 Ultimate has a good microphone and records videos well. However, Pixel 7, iPhone 14 Pro Max will still be better at video shooting. But if we talk about autonomy, that’s really the strength of Magic 5 Ultimate. And if you buy this smartphone for yourself in the global version, it will definitely last you 3-4 years.
